WSK, or Winsock Kernel, is a kernel moded NPI.  This is similar to Winsock2 in that you can use the same socket programming concepts.  The Winsock Kernel Network Programming Interface (NPI) supports many of the same socket operations; however, it is a very different beast from the user-mode winsock2.
